Working with a Weight Loss Dietitian in Ontario
Is this covered by insurance?
If your private health plan includes Registered Dietitian coverage (many extended health plans do), you can request a service receipt after each session to submit for reimbursement. Coverage levels vary by plan.
How is this different from Weight Watchers, Noom, or my last program?
Those programs often hand you a structure and step away. This is a one-on-one nutrition counselling relationship with a Registered Dietitian — built around your specific context, patterns, and history, not a generic plan.
What's the cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule your session or it will be forfeited and counted as used from your package, no replacement session will be provided. For extenuating circumstances please contact taylor@pillarnutrition.ca
There's no time in the calendar that works. What do I do?
The calendar reflects my standard availability, but I can often accommodate sessions outside those windows. Send me a message and we'll find a time that works.
How quickly do you respond to between-session messages?
Within 48 hours on business days. Out of office time will be communicated well in advance unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Do I have to be on camera for sessions?
Yes — being fully present during sessions is part of what makes this work. Multitasking won't produce the same outcomes. Please set aside dedicated, distraction-free time for your appointments.
Do I have to be on weight loss medication to work with you?
Not at all. Medication is one possible tool in weight management, not a requirement. I've worked with clients both on and off weight loss medications.
What if I want to start a weight loss medication like Wegovy or Zepbound?
I can support you through that process. Weight loss medication nutrition support is an area I work in regularly. Making sure your nutrition strategy works with your medication, that you understand the mechanism of action, how to mitigate side effects, and that you're equipped to advocate for yourself is my top priority.
Will I get a meal plan?
The research suggests rigid meal plans aren't a sustainable approach on their own. Instead, we build on guiding principles — so you know what to do in a wide range of real-life situations, rather than trying to follow a plan that breaks down the moment life gets busy.
What if I have a condition like diabetes, PMOS (previously PCOS), or heart disease?
The Transformative Package is designed with enough session time to properly address your specific conditions.
What if I travel for work?
We plan for it. If travel is part of your life, your approach needs to work on the road — not just when everything is “perfect". Sessions are virtual, so you can attend from anywhere in Ontario.Important Note: video appointments must take place while you're physically in Ontario and sessions cannot be completed while driving.
Can my partner or family member join sessions?
A support person is welcome to join if they play a significant role in your day-to-day routines. However, the focus of every session remains entirely on your goals and health. If a partner or family member wants to pursue their own weight management journey, they're welcome to enroll separately. We do not currently offer combined or couples-style coaching sessions.
Do the packages expire?
All sessions included in a purchased package or single sessions purchased must be used within eight (8) months of the date of purchase. Sessions that remain unused after this period will expire and are not eligible for refund or transfer.
